Finding creative ways to connect people through storytelling is what I am most passionate about.
Whether it's a vibrant corporate video to boost engagement in your business or it's shooting internationally for a broadcast documentary, I try to forge connections and capture authenticity in whatever project I am working on. For broadcast films I work as a Shooting Assistant Producer or a DV director but I also produce media of all kinds for brands or independent projects.

People respond to stories they can relate to, it's my job to bring those to life.

The @truecrimeawards winning series TikTok: Murder Gone Viral returns this evening at 9pm on ITV1

It's a true privilege to be entrusted to tell these heartbreaking stories and it was an honour to win Best New Episodic Series earlier in the year for series 1 at the True Crime Awards with @catninelives and the @nine_lives_media team.

I was lucky enough to be able to work on the first two episodes of the second series with the important and tragic cases of Charlie Cosser and Tristyn Bailey.

Working with these incredible families has been a privilege and this first episode "The Killing of Charlie Cosser", which airs tonight, tells the story of how Martin Cosser transformed the senseless murder of his 17 year old son Charlie into powerful advocacy against knife crime. His charity @charliespromisecharity is doing vital work to combat knife crime in this country and is making a real difference in communities across the UK.

Grateful to the families for allowing us to help honour their loved ones and to anyone who gives the series a watch.

Had a wonderful time last week shooting around #stockport for @futureverything with the lovely and innovative artist @dimainstone and the incredible team of @demagazine @chazzatown and @lewkdavies .

It's for an exhibition called Emotional Biodiversity at @stockr__m (really cool new community space in central Stockport) opening July 10th ... Intrigued ??? Do come and see it!

Happy January! I hope everyone's 2025 has had a great start so far.
Doing a 2024 round up since I am incapable of posting things as they happen and I'm realizing it's important to acknowledge things I am grateful about!

Hugely grateful for Stranger In My Family being nominated for an @royaltelevisionsocietynw award and attending with the amazing crew of @nine_lives_media in November.

I've had incredible experiences working as a shooting Assisstant Producer with Nine Lives Media on a couple of episodes of a truecrime series (one of which was in the US), meeting and working with some amazing and inspiring people.

I also had the privilege of being a social media producer/ editor helping to cover the @paralympics for Channel 4's social media channels, which was a wonderful experience I was proud to contribute to.

I've managed to work on some great local freelance projects with the amazing organizations of @sharpfutures and @screen_mcr.

I want to acknowledge that a huge part of the heart of the film Stranger In My Family, Lukes dad Gary, sadly recently passed. He and Liz both were hugely courageous pillars of love for Luke throughout the film and of course in general. Though I only knew him for a short time over the last few years, it was really clear what a strong and loving man and father he was. It was a true privilege to be a part of their familys story of coming closer together and my thoughts and love are with you guys.

The holidays can be tough for many, so I hope everyone has started off the year being kind to themselves and wishing everyone prosperous and joyful 2025.

Fun fact: as well as doing documentaries for broadcast and editing for social media, I also do corporate media!
I find that as a freelancer, diversifying your income streams is more vital than ever in these uncertain times. [How many hats do you find yourself wearing fellow freelancers??]

Attended the Broadcast awards at the end of last week because Stranger In My Family was nominated for Best Documentary Program! While we didn't take home the win, (The incredible film Lyra won, well deservedly) it was an incredible experience and one I will always remember. Huge thanks to the broadcast awards and our amazing dream team from @nine_lives_media (and beyond) who got us here.

2024 is off to an incredible start with Stranger In My Family being selected for the longlist for the BAFTAs in the Single Documentary category, in the company of some amazing films.

Happy newest year!
2023 was one of the craziest years of my life, I could never have predicted where it would take me.

The film I started making almost on a whim with my friend @lewkdavies 4 years ago has now been completed, shown on @bbcthree , @bbcone and being nominated for a broadcast award. Huge gratitude everyone who was a part of that insane and amazing journey ( @lizdavies49, @sunnykang20 , @the_story_consultant , Cat Lewis, @laurahouse93 , Andy Rushton, @ghislainecouvillat
@andreiaestrelasilva , and many more I don't have on IG)

As well as filming in Portugal for Stranger In My Family, I was shooting in the US (Chattanooga and Chicago) for the first time filming for a doc for ITV thanks to the wonderful @nine_lives_media (with the amazing Robin) which was also a whirlwind of a life changing adventure.

This year I have learned so much from such an amazing array of people and I couldn't be more grateful.

Freelancing can be a difficult at times, since balance can be hard to find and you have to accept the constant uncertainty the lifestyle brings you. But if I wasn't freelance, I wouldn't have lived the most amazing adventures of my life so far.

Hope your 2024 is full of adventure, joy, growth and peace. Xx

I can't believe it... but it's happening!
It's been going on 4 years since me and @lewkdavies at @polaricreative polari started this journey in documenting a search for identity.
Since then, one by one an array of amazing people (@the_story_consultant , @ghislainecouvillat , @sunnykang20 , Cat Lewis @nine_lives_media , Andy Rushton and more) have helped make Stranger in My Family what it is today.

From the full house screening we had over the weekend at @everymanmanchester (thanks to all that came) to Luke appearing on BBC breakfast on Saturday(!), I'm just feeling incredible grateful to everyone who has contributed to this amazing process.

#throwbackthursday to a year ago this week when me and @lewkdavies pitched our film at @sheffdocfest 2022 at the BBC Northern Docs Pitch and, with the invaluable support of @the_story_consultant and @ghislainecouvillat , we were able to win! I know I'll remember that incredible day for as long as I live. ❤

I haven't been able to post much about it for various reasons but it's been one of the craziest and best years of my life. It's been produced by the amazing @nine_lives_media and should be coming out later this year. Hugely grateful to @sunnykang20 , Cat Lewis and the Nine Lives Media team for their amazing work bringing Luke's incredible story to life and for all I have learned along the way.

Biggest thanks to Luke and his family who have been so generous, courageous and generally wonderful.

Luke and I met at a random documentary conference 3 and half years ago and started chatting about maybe making a film about identity. Somehow, now we're here! What?!

Being able to work remotely has allowed me to be part of interesting and important projects outside the city I live.

One example of this was working as an #editor earlier this year on The Streets Where We Live, an online historical series about Liverpool focusing on the impact the transatlantic slave trade had on the development of the city.

Described by @liveveryplay on their website :
"Last August we worked with local historian Laurence Westgaph and Falling Doors Theatre to create a bespoke historical walking tour of the city, exploring Liverpool’s role in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. An educational digital series The Streets Where We Live, exploring four writers’ responses to Liverpool’s role in the transatlantic slave trade is now available for free from the theatres’ website."

It's a free educational resource which acts as a creative and innovative way to tell important human stories and histories which have been overlooked, blending interviews, performances and tour footage. Proud to have been part of it.

Today is April 24th, the official day of remembrance for the Armenian genocide.
I am only one generation removed from it, with my grandparents having survived it and starting a new life in Lebanon over 100 years ago.
They both had family members murdered, they both had people who saved their lives, people who were sometimes strangers or put themselves at great risk, everyday people who have been lost to history... to whom I owe my existence. Today I am grateful for them, and remember those who survive and those who didn't.
It was over 100 years ago but these are their faces, their stories.
If you want to learn more, this is a short film made by a family friend a couple of decades ago, capturing the testimony of a collection of survivors. Thanks all, stay safe
